Happy Thanksgiving

"Through Gizmo's Eyes"

I know we don't live in America, so some of you may be confused as to why my humans celebrate thanksgiving. Daddy says its cause he's from America, but we know better cause thanksgiving is all about eating turkey. Or at least thats what we think its all about. The humans spent all afternoon cooking and we spent all afternoon under their feet in the hope they might drop something yummy.
Mum and Dads Dinner

I could smell the lovely turkey aroma and sat in front of the oven starring at it just wishing I could have a little. Then mum fed us some stinky goodness which I knew meant time for them to eat dinner, so I scarffed mine down  and sat next to her chair. I only begged a little. After she finished she snuck us 2 little snack sized pieces of turkey each.

Mmmm I love turkey.

Then when we were sleepy, mum tried to snap some christmas pictures of us both.

What do you think?

Theres a tree in the living room!

Hi, it's Denali,

Gizmo is letting me share his blog for the first time. He has been very protective of everything that is his, but he is finally starting to learn to share. He still has his green eyed monster moments, but I think he is coming around.

I love my new home, especiall now that I'm out of my sick room. There are so many things to climb and play with, and I love to snuggle up on mum or dads lap. There are also some really comfy warm spots on the top of the couch and on the bed. There's a balcony where I can watch the people and the birds. Theres cat trees and clothes racks to scratch and climb on.

Mum and Dad put up a tree in the living room on the weekend. I think they called it a Christmas Tree. It's so pretty with flashing lights and shiny toys hanging all over it. Gizmo and I keep trying to play with the things on the tree, but apparently its off limits. Every time we try to get the stuff of the tree dad squirts us with the waterbottle. We have been trying to get to them really quietly, gizmo has tried climbing up the center of the tree to get to them, and we've trid the hit and run technique, I've tried comando techniques behind the TV and through the bookshelf and cabinets, but all with no success.

Neither of us understand why they would put a tree in the living room if it wasnt there for us to climb or play with. What good is a tree if you just look at it?

I'm Back!

Gizmo here. Mum wanted me to apologise for her because she has been too busy working her 2 jobs and looking after Denali and I to get a chance to write. She finishes one of the jobs in a week and is so excited to have more time to herself...Personally I'm more excited that she will have time for Denali and I. Play time here we come.

Update time. So the last time I wrote on here, mum and dad were busy keeping Denali away from me. She was in quarantine because she had ringworm. She was in quarantine for 6 whole human weeks! Thats a long time to have strange smells on the other side of a door and not be allowed to investigate. My curiosity got the better of me and I managed to sneak in the door a few times to see what the white fluffball was. Mum and dad took me for a check up too when Denali got the all clear just in case I got some spores from my quick visits with Denali, but I got the all clear too.

This mean that Denali and I finally got the chance to meet, (really it meant I got a chance to show her who is boss around here). She likes to play a lot and I am not quite as playful as she wants me to be, but if she wakes me up I just kick her in the head a few times until she squeals.

I've gotten used to her being around now, and really she isn't so bad. I have to share my bedroom with her, but at least now I have someone to play with when mum and dad are at work.

Mum has lots of pictures to put up to show you how much we have both grown.

Mum was trying to get photos of us for the christmas cards... I didn't want to make it easy for her.

Sunday - The new cat tower part 2

Through Gizmo's Eyes

Today started out slowly. I spent the morning lying in the sun puddles in my room. Mum and dad spent the morning cleaning. I tried to play with Denali through the door, but really I just want to get a chance to get through the door. I keep lying in wait for when mum or dad opens the door to go into her room, but thats another story.

At lunch time mum and dad went to bunnings to get a new drill. They brought back a really good one. It drills through the hard wood really quickly. This means that dad could get back to work on my cat tower... finally some decent progress. First dad drilled holes in the wood and then screwed bits of wood together. Next they found some carpet off cuts to put on the base. Then dad used a grass mat to wrap around one pole. The grass tastes yummy and feels really good to claw. The next step was wrapping rope around one of the other poles, but dad ran out of rope half way through.

Next they decided, to create a comfy pillow top for the first platform. Mum found an old pillow, and a pet blanket in storage. They nailed it to the platform.

Then they did the best bit yet. They made a kitty nest! Mum used a hanging basket and they attached it to the tall post at a few points to make it stable. It is the most comfy place to sit in the house yet... it's even better than the hammock.

The tower apparently isn't finished yet. I can't wait to see what they do next. I think it's time for me to get back in the nest and have a nap. I hope you have a great Sunday.

Caturday - The new cat tower part 1

Through Gizmo's Eyes

So mum is a little late writing this as it happened on Caturday, but she was too busy with paperwork (I even tried to eat it away to help).

Dad was doing more interesting stuff outside on the balcony so I went to have a look. He was playing with wood. I tried to play too, but then dad got a little annoyed. So I rolled in some soft stuff dad called sawdust untill he swept it up.

Dad was cutting bits of wood with a tool called a saw and standing it up on another piece of wood. It looked kind of familliar. Then mum came and helped too and I saw what I think dad was trying to make...It looks like he was making a new cat tower! I love dad.

Hmmm no I think you need to move this bit more towards the corner.

Looking good

I tried to help, but dad said I was getting in the way (I had to inspect what it might look like and give him some pointers about what I wanted).

Unfortunately when dad got to the drilling part of making the tower, the drill stopped working. :(

This means the cat tower is not finished today. Maybe dad can buy a new drill and finish it tomorrow.

Cleaning Caturday

Through Gizmo's Eyes

I started the day waking mum and dad up early so they wouldn't be late to work...4.30am to be exact. Mum wasn't too impressed because they dont work on caturday. She gave me some food and then tried to go back to bed. Unfortunately I had woken up Denali as well and she was yelling. Denali yells even louder than me. I heard mum up till 5am trying to get Denali back to sleep.

Mum and dad eventually got up at 7am and I got a second breakfast. Then they got into a massive cleaning frenzy. My room, denali's room, the kitchen and bathroom. Then dad got me out of my comfy bed in the sun to give me a bath. I hate baths, but dad had to use a special shampoo to try to help ensure I don't get Denali's ringworm. I tried to play with her through the door this week, and she escaped her quarantine a few times too. Then I got de-floofed, and while I lay in the sun to dry, mum washed Denali and brushed her too. I can't wait till she is allowed out to play. Although she had better not ever lay a paw in my room... it's mine!

Mum said I should apologise for her not being able to write much this week. Between her 2 jobs, plus excessive cleaning for Denali, she only just had enough time to snuggle me, so the computer lay dormant.

She has to do some paperwork now, so she said she would get back on later to put some caturday photos up.
