After 2 months of looking for the perfect friend for Gizmo, we've found her. She is a Ragdoll x. We get to pick her up on Saturday, and we hope Gizmo likes her as much as we do.
Last weekend we gave gizmo a white tiger toy almost the same size as him. He hasn't stopped wrestling with it and he even sleeps snuggling it. I think he feels like he has a friend. I really hope he and the new kitten become close friends.
We have a separate room for the kitten to begin with, and have used one of gizmo's blankets in her bed. Someone else suggested rubbing our warm socks taken straight off our feet on both cats to make our scent the dominant one. Does anyone else have any ideas?
We came by to catch up and what a lovely surprise. That is a beautiful kitten. We're looking forward to future posts featuring the two kitties.
ReplyDeleteAw she's a cutie! We sure hope Gizmo and she become good furiends. We find if you take it slow with the introductions, you should be okay. Rubbing them with your socks is a good idea, also rubbing one with a towel or sock and then the other will make them smell the same, which helps. Feeding them together is good. Also playing together. Anything that helps them realize that being together is a good thing. Positive experiences.

OMC - she is ADORABLE!!! Mom says that feeding the kittens on opposite sides of the door will help. And let them switch rooms to get used to each others smells. Considering they are kitte4ns it shoudl go pretty quick! Good luck....can't wait to hear all about it.
